“But you don’t look sick”

12 Apr

Being so low on physical capacity is still new to me. Tonight we tried to do some shopping. I would have needed a motorized shopping cart to make it through the trip, and, after Jalan dropped me by the door, I went to the customer service desk and asked for one. After a couple of interactions and several minutes (with me sitting on the patio furniture), it became clear that this was not going to happen. Jalan got the car and we left, with Jalan mentally composing the letter of complaint.

I’m fully aware that this kind of thing happens routinely, but it still hit me pretty hard. We got fast food at a drive-through, and will attempt shopping (elsewhere) tomorrow.

When my former roommate became ill we had this problem when we went to walmart. I let her take the lead like always and she stepped up there talking to them. However, with some things I have a short fuse. So after waiting ten minutes and seeing her become tired from standing I stepped up. Lets say that within anohter couple moments the woman had her a scooter and they were apologizing profusely and I think I scared her just a tiny tiny bit lol

Heh. Yeah, Jalan’s protective like that, too. We went to another store the next day, one with generally great customer service. The one electric cart not in use was out of service, so we used a wheelchair. She pushed, I held a basket in my lap. We make it work!

Any and all thoughts welcome
